The settling of Brandon started in the late 1850's by John Brandon and his family.

According to the 2000 census, Brandon is the largest unincorporated community in Florida and is experiencing a rapid rate of growth. Brandon is located 12 miles east of Tampa.

The Greater Brandon area consists of approximately 89 square miles, has a population over 120,871 and includes the communities of Seffner, Valrico, Dover, Durant, Lithia, Mango, Bloomingdale, Riverview, Fish Hawk, Summerfield, Tampa East, Turkey Creek, and Walden Lake.

Brandon is located within a short commute of Tampa and St. Petersburg and close to the main Florida attractions like Busch Gardens, Disney World, Universal Florida, Sea World.

The 974,000 square foot Town Center Mall with surrounding shopping centers is a shopping magnets for all the residents. Close by is also a 20 movie cineplex and wonderful restaurants for every taste and budget. Brandon Regional Medical Center is one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation. Many physicians have office locations near the hospital.

Brandon's demographics provide a median age of just over 34, slightly younger than that of the Tampa Bay Region, and represents a median household income of $43,618. Brandon is mainly a family-oriented community and also attracts retired people.. .a wonderful place to live.

With many new housing developments, Brandon is growing as family center of the Tampa Bay area; residents see Brandon as their home and not simply a spot to live.
